5-Hit Game for Carroll
|
After a 5-hit effort to lead Delmarva's 5-4 victory over the Lexington Legends, right fielder Dave Carroll told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the South Atlantic League-level is really something special."
The 23-year-old player earned his accolades at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Legends.
"His swing is getting there," said Shorebirds skipper Bryan LaHair, who spoke glowingly of Carroll after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Dave did that to perfection."
Dave Carroll singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 9th and hit an RBI single in the 10th.
This year, Carroll is hitting .248 with 2 home runs and 12 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .345 clip and scored 9 runs.
