Diaz on Fire, 5-for-5 Against West Virginia
|
Oscar Diaz of the Tourists was unstoppable in his team's 7-1 victory over the West Virginia Power at Appalachian Power Park. He battered them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats.
"Boy, I was on the mark today," said the Asheville center fielder after the game. "I could see the ball real well. It's a great feeling to do this. And besides, 5-for-5 won't hurt your batting average like 0-for-5 will."
Oscar Diaz doubled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Allen Harvin in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI triple in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Chris Day in the 7th.
This season, Diaz has delivered 47 hits in 177 at-bats for a .266 average with 3 home runs. He is getting on base at a .348 clip and his totals also include 16 RBIs and 24 runs scored. This year Diaz has played in 42 games.
