Astros Lose to Reds, 4-2
|
The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Houston Astros, 4-2, in part because of catcher Eddie Perez. Perez went 2-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Reds. Brad Radke picked up the win, lifting his record to 6-4 on the season. He struck out 2 and walked 3 in 7.1 innings, while yielding 2 runs. The save went to Trevor Hoffman, his 19th this season.
Cincinnati took a 4-2 lead on Perez's 7th home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Aaron Sele in the bottom of the sixth, propelled Cincinnati to the win.
Perez called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
Cincinnati is now 40-21, 3½ games up in the National League East Division.
