Astros Procure 7-1 Victory
|
Jose Rijo, who finished 3rd in the AL in ERA with 2.60 in 1988, was terrific for the Houston Astros in his team's 7-1 triumph over the Minnesota Twins. His performance earned Rijo rave reviews. The Astros, at 30-30, inhabit third place in the National League Central Division.
Houston used a clutch at-bat from Willie Greene to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Astros ahead, 6-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I was able to change speeds effectively tonight," said Rijo.
