Detroit registered a win at Tiger Stadium by beating the Minnesota Twins, 7-2. Pitcher Mark Portugal was one reason why the Tigers triumphed. The Tigers have an impressive 67-36 record.

The Tigers got a big at-bat from left fielder Bobby Higginson. For the game, Higginson went 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 27th double of the season gave Detroit a 3-0 lead.

"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Detroit skipper Jeff Clement.
