Brewers Earn Clutch Win, 6-5
|
Conditions were not ideal but Milwaukee and Philadelphia were able to put their game in the books.
No one was more impactful than Chris Updegraff in the 6-5 Milwaukee win over Philadelphia. Updegraff went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Luis Casiano snagged the win in relief. He goes to 1-0 on the season. Lemar Liggons suffered the loss. Curt Ford earned the save for Milwaukee, his 4th.
Updegraff had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 0-2 cutter from Lemar Liggons, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Brewers a 6-5 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Updegraff.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Philadelphia manager Philadelphia GM. "But we decided not to take it."
Milwaukee is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 10th in 26 games.
