Mexico City Monarchs starter Rusty Barto pitched a strong game against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium, leading the Monarchs to victory, 1-0. Barto got the win, improving to 12-8. He gave up 2 hits and walked 2 over 6.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Juan Melendrez got the save, his 41st in 45 chances.
Fidel Mendoza helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a run-scoring single to give Mexico City a 1-0 lead.
