|
Though he had a stellar game, Sincere McCottry could not prevent his team, the New York Yankees, from losing, 5-4, to the Mexico City Monarchs. McCottry was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Fidel Mendoza got the win, improving to 15-8. He held the Yankees to 3 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 2. With the win, Mexico City raised its record to 78-67.
Jesus Barralaga went 1-2 with a walk for Mexico City. The fan favorite had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off A.J. Blessing. It was his 23rd RBI of the season.
"I was a little disappointed," said New York manager New York (A) GM. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
