Rays Come Back Late to Top Mets, 3-2
|
The Tampa Bay Rays had to overcome a good performance from New York pitcher Ian Johnston to claim a 3-2 win at Tropicana Field. Johnston went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Steve Harris, who finished 4th in the AL in saves with 37 in 2040, earned the save for Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay is now 42-25, while New York is 20-46.
In the bottom of the eighth, T.J. Traylor put Tampa Bay in front with a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a run-scoring single, making the score 3-2, Rays.
"If you chase it, you need to get it," said Tampa Bay skipper Tampa Bay GM.
