Red Sox Make White Sox 4-1 Losers
|
Boston starter Marius Pinkleton put the Chicago offense in a vise grip. The left-hander relied heavily on his sinker in leading the Red Sox to a 4-1 win. In 8 innings, Pinkleton surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Picking up his 3rd save was fireballing right-hander Kurt Ireland.
Boston needed the clutch hitting of Jadon Beckles to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Red Sox on top, 4-1. For the game, Beckles had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Makes our job easier," said Beckles, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
Boston has won 3 straight, while Chicago has lost 3 in a row.
