Guardians Win 7-6 Nail-Biter Versus Monarchs
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Cleveland Guardians eventually prevailed.
The Cleveland Guardians overcame a good performance by Mexico City right fielder Alan Pridgeon to knock off Mexico City, 7-6, at Progressive Field. Pridgeon belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Steve Hoffman picked up the win in relief for Cleveland, while Gene Guderian took the loss.
The Guardians nabbed the win, in part because of third baseman Eric Boggs. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered the game-winning run-scoring single.
In postgame remarks, Boggs simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
The Guardians go to 19-31, putting them last in the American League Central Division.
