Mexico City pitcher Hermond Chappel did his part in helping his team beat the Texas Rangers, 6-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Mexico City is now 21-12, Texas 11-22.

The Monarchs got an important contribution from first baseman Jon Barrett, who in the bottom of the second hit a 1-2 knuckle curve to right-center for a 2-run double. It was his 6th double of the season and put the Monarchs ahead, 4-1.

"This team is on a mission," said Chappel, who is one of the clubhouse leaders. "I like our focus."
