Cincinnati Defeated By Padres, 7-1
|
Mike McQueen was outstanding against Cincinnati. The right-hander, who finished 2nd in the NL in strikeouts with 259 in 2035, had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Padres 7-1 win. Cincinnati now has a record of 9-22.
San Diego got a lift in the bottom of the first from catcher Eddie Brown, who hit a slider to left-center for a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Padres up, 3-0.
"If you don't take any pitches off, you've got a chance to impact the game, and that's what we did," said San Diego skipper San Diego GM.
