New York right-hander Zach Maxwell pitched his team to victory over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays at Tropicana Field. The final score was 6-3. Maxwell got the win, improving to 2-1. He gave up 2 hits and walked 0 over 5 innings. He allowed no runs. Tampa Bay is now 4-7.

Alex Ramirez had a big 2-run double for the Mets in the top of the fourth inning. With New York leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Ed Colbert and swatted a double to left. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mets ahead, 5-0.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said New York manager Dave Roberts.
