Red Sox Trip Royals, 6-5
|
Boston beat Kansas City at Fenway Park, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to left fielder Julio Quintanilla. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 doubles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Nate Savino, who is tied for 6th in the AL in quality starts with 16, was the winner. He's now 12-4. The loser was Matthew Thompson. At 86-63, the Red Sox are currently first in the American League Northeast Division.
Quintanilla had a big at-bat with a runner on 2nd in the bottom of the first inning, when he hit a run-scoring double. The Red Sox went on to win.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Victor Rey.
