Cubs 6-3 Winners Versus Toronto
|
The Chicago Cubs topped the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-3, with shortstop Juan Miranda playing a big role. Miranda was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Cubs in the win. The winning pitcher was former first round draft pick Frank Ferreira. He tossed 100 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits. David Verduzco got the save, the 7th for him this season.
The Cubs got a big at-bat from second baseman Nelson Delgado. For the game, Delgado went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 21st double of the season gave Chicago a 2-0 lead.
Miranda told the media after that game that the mood in the clubhouse is "extremely positive" after a win like that.
The last-place Cubs have won 4 straight games.
