No-Hitter for Wainwright Monday, April 21st , 2014 Minnesota's Adam Wainwright was right on the mark today at Safeco Field 1999-2012 in a sensational no-hitter against the Seattle Mariners, shutting them down 4-0. Wainwright chalked up 7 strikeouts and gave up 3 walks in a game that was instantly one of the highlights of the season. The brash right-hander, who is known for a confidence that sometimes borders on arrogance, told reporters afterward that he "was the best pitcher in the league today." Minnesota skipper Kurt Smith said in his postgame interview that Wainwright "tossed a masterpiece today." "Adam likes to talk but it ain't bragging if you can back it up," he said.
