Fernandez Wins NL Top Pitcher Award Monday, May 1st , 2017 Jose Fernandez of St. Louis had an award-winning April as he took home the NL Pitcher of the Month award. "He told me once people used to make fun of the way he pitches," Fernandez's pitching coach told reporters. "There wasn't anybody laughing in April except for Jose." Fernandez was all business when he took the mound though, collecting a 6-0 record in 6 starts. He struck out 34 batters in 41.1 innings and kept opponents to a .260 batting average. |
