AL East Division Title Goes to Red Sox Friday, September 21st , 2018 Equal parts jubilation and relief swept over the Boston Red Sox clubhouse tonight. The team captured the AL East Division crown, by the slimmest of margins. "We're happy, excited, overjoyed, relieved, anxious - a lot of emotions going through our heads," said reliever Tim Mayza. "It's really hard to describe the wave of feelings you get going through a pennant race like this." The Red Sox can now put the pennant push behind them and focus on the postseason, where the club will enter the bid for the World Series with a 85-78 record. It is the 27th time the Red Sox have won the division in their team history and they are seeking a 8th Major League Baseball championship. |
