Boston Blanks New York Behind Weaver Sunday, July 6th , 2014 Jered Weaver was throwing strikes early and getting ahead in the count, his manager said after the Boston Red Sox hurler tossed a 4-hit, complete game shutout against the New York Yankees. "I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Weaver. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings." Weaver walked 1 and struck out 6 in the 6-0 victory.
