The Texas Rangers picked up a win at Oriole Park at Camden Yards 1992-2011, taking down the Baltimore Orioles, 3-2. Starting pitcher Mike Foltynewicz was a big reason why. Foltynewicz, now 20-3, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Sean Doolittle, credited with the save, is now 29 for 30 in save opportunities.
Texas used the timely hitting of Will Smith to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rangers on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Foltynewicz. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
Texas now has a record of 107-36 with the win.
