Win Lifts Indians to 86-53
|
The rain did not keep Cleveland and New York from finishing their game.
The Cleveland Indians topped the New York Yankees by the score of 14-5, with the biggest share of the credit going to left fielder Charlie Blackmon. Blackmon was 2-3 with 2 doubles and 2 walks. He scored 4 times for the Indians on the day. Cleveland raised its record to 86-53 with the win.
Andrelton Simmons dealt the Yankees a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and Cleveland leading 5-4, Simmons hit a 0-1 fastball for a 2-run single.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Blackmon told the Cleveland Observer.
