The Cleveland Indians could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Jon Lester into a win. Instead, the Seattle Mariners prevailed, 7-3. Lester threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball. The winner in relief was Tyler Chatwood. He is now 5-8. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. The setback makes Cleveland 80-49.

Seattle used a clutch at-bat from Ruben Gotay to capture the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mariners ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Things didn't bounce our way," said Cleveland skipper Jake Indians.
