Phillies Edge Dodgers 2-1 to Open DS

The Los Angeles Dodgers got a strong 6 innings from right-hander Jason Schmidt today but failed to take Game 1 of the Divisional Series from the Philadelphia Phillies. Schmidt held the Phillies to 2 runs on 6 strong innings but Philadelphia took the game by a score of 2-1 and now lead the best-of-7 series, 1-0.
Lew Ford hit a 2-run home run off Jason Schmidt in the bottom of the third, which put the Phillies ahead, 2-0. In addition to the homer, Ford had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Ford told the Philadelphia Bulletin.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Veterans Stadium 1985-2003 in Philadelphia.
