San Diego Win to Pull Even With San Francisco
|
The San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants will take the Wild Card Series to a decisive 5th game. Facing a must-win situation today, the Padres shut out the Giants 5-0 at Oracle Park to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. San Diego left-hander Mark Redman did his part. He threw 9.0 innings of shutout ball.
Redman, a native of San Diego, California, was dealing all game. He kept San Francisco hitters off-balance, while giving the Padres 9 quality innings. Redman threw 122 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out 4.
"Mark is tough when he's hitting his spots," said San Diego manager Udo Bechtluft.
Game 5 is scheduled for Monday at Jack Murphy Stadium 1998-2003 in San Diego.
