San Francisco Tops San Diego Again, 4-3
The San Francisco Giants moved to within one game of the Divisional Series today, downing the San Diego Padres on the road at Jack Murphy Stadium 1998-2003 by a score of 4-3. Giants right-hander Brett Tomko had a strong outing. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The win gives the Giants a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Wild Card Series.

It could have been a different outcome for San Francisco, had it not been for Mark McGwire, the six-time Great Glove Award winner . McGwire contributed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put San Francisco up, 3-2.

"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Tomko said.

The next game is set to be played for Friday, October 3rd , 2003 at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
