Raucous Kingdome Crowd Propels Mariners to 6-3 Victory; Series Tied at 3
|
The Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays will take the Championship Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Mariners beat the Blue Jays 6-3 at Kingdome to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Seattle left-hander Randy D Johnson had a big role in the win. He threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs.
Omar Vizquel hit a run-scoring double off Roy Halladay in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Mariners in front, 3-2. In addition to the double, Vizquel had 2 singles, while going 3 for 5.
"It feels good to get this one," Vizquel told the Seattle Bulletin.
Game 7 is set to be played tomorrow at Kingdome. Slated to start are Jaret Wright for the Toronto Blue Jays and Mike Mussina for the the Seattle Mariners.
