Tampa Bay Tumbles Again, Falls, 8-2, to Texas
Texas turned a good effort from starter Justin Verlander into a win over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays at Tropicana Field. The Rangers won the game, 8-2. Verlander got the win, improving to 10-8. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 9 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Tampa Bay now owns a losing streak of 6 games.

Jason Heyward had a big 2-run home run for the Rangers in the top of the first inning. With Texas leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Gio Gonzalez, who is a three-time All-Star, and punished it. The result was his 30th home run of the season, which put the Rangers on top, 3-0.

"From the last whatever, five, six, seven games, there's really only one way to go and that's up," said losing manager .
