Royals Win, 4-2, Versus Indians
|
Starting pitcher Phil Hughes was a major factor in the 4-2 Kansas City Royals triumph over the Cleveland Indians. Hughes, now 5-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The save went to Neil Ramirez, number 27 for him.
The Royals got a big at-bat from shortstop Cliff Pennington. For the game, Pennington went 1 for 3 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 18th double of the season gave Kansas City a 3-2 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Pennington. "And not try to do too much."
The victory gives the Royals a record of 62-59.
