The Chicago White Sox are one game away from a sweep of the World Series after stifling the San Francisco Giants by a score of 1-0 at Comiskey Park today. White Sox right-hander Jack McDowell had a strong performance. He threw 9 innings of shutout ball. Chicago now holds a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 series.

McDowell, who was born in The United States, threw 123 pitches over 9 innings, while allowing no runs.

"We're one game closer to our goal," Chicago manager White Sox GM said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."

Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow at Comiskey Park in Chicago. Slated to start are Mark Gubicza for the San Francisco Giants and William VanLandingham for the the Chicago White Sox.
