San Francisco Takes Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
With starter Pat Rapp leading the charge, the San Francisco Giants defeated the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-1, in Game 3 of the League Championship Series today. The right-hander threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball at Candlestick Park to help San Francisco take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
With no one out in the bottom of the fourth, Dave Nilsson barreled up a slider from Pedro Astacio. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Giants in front, 3-0.
"We lost," Philadelphia manager AJ Phillies said later. "We'll deal with it. The series isn't over."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Roger Pavlik for the Philadelphia Phillies and Don Aase for the the San Francisco Giants.
