Royals Take 12-2 Pounding
|
The Detroit Tigers met little resistance from the Kansas City Royals, beating them 12-2 at Kauffman Stadium 1995-2003. Mark Ellis led the way. He was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for Detroit. Picking up the win was Ben McDonald. He went 7.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits. The right--hander struck out 6 and walked 1. With the victory, the Tigers upped their record to 85-73.
Rob Natal broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the fifth with a run-scoring double. It put the Tigers in front, 3-2. For the game, Natal went 1 for 4 with a double.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Ellis said.
