Late Rally by Diamondbacks Secures 3-1 Win
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Milwaukee Brewers, Wilson Alvarez was the difference-maker. The Arizona left-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Alvarez got the win, improving to 12-14. He allowed 5 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. Alvarez allowed 1 run. Eric DuBose converted his 6th save in 6 tries.
Arizona used the clutch hitting of Vernon Wells to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Diamondbacks ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"We didn't string enough hits together to win the game," said tight-lipped Milwaukee manager Walnut Brewers. "Obviously."
Arizona has a 3-game win streak, while Milwaukee has lost 4 in a row.
