Angels Collect 5-1 Win Over Rangers
|
The Anaheim Angels faced a tough opponent in Texas pitcher Dan Wright, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Ballpark in Arlington 1994-2011 by a final score of 5-1. Wright went 9 innings and allowed 1 run. Anaheim reliever Paul Shuey was the winner. His record is now 2-2. Jose Alberro took the loss. The Angels have an impressive 99-56 record.
Anaheim used the timely hitting of Benji Gil to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 14th inning to put the Angels on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame remarks, Gil simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
