Torres Blasts Rangers, Pirates Take Game 5, 9-6
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Texas Rangers, winning, 9-6, at The Ballpark in Arlington 1994-2011. Pirates second baseman Gleyber Torres belted 2 home runs, while scoring 4 and driving in 6. The win cuts the deficit facing the Pirates to 3-2 in the best-of-7 World Series.
Torres got the Pirates off to a quick start. In the top of the first, with the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single.
"Hitting 2 home runs in the World Series is a fairy tale," Torres said in the clubhouse following the game.
Game 6 is scheduled for Saturday at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.
