Mets Even With Rockies After Extra-Innings Win
Handed an opportunity to take a commanding lead in the League Championship Series, the Colorado Rockies could not close the deal.

Game 4 went into extra frames and the New York Mets emerged victorious, taking a 10-inning, 5-2 win. New York starting pitcher Max Scherzer threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball in the win at Colorado Field today to drag the Mets back to parity. The clubs are now tied 2-2 in the best-of-7 series.

New York needed the clutch hitting of Nelson Cruz to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Mets on top, 4-2. For the game, Cruz had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Scherzer said the win provided a "big morale boost" for the team. "There's a good feeling in the clubhouse right now."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Thursday, October 23rd , 2014.
