Victorino Blasts Indians, Diamondbacks Take Game 5, 10-7
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Cleveland Indians, winning 10-7 at Chase Field today. Diamondbacks left fielder Shane Victorino was 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The win cuts the deficit facing the Diamondbacks to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
The game turned with one out in the bottom of the seventh when Victorino, who finished 4th in the AL in stolen bases with 54 in 2008, hit a grand slam home run. It propelled the Diamondbacks into the lead, 10-6.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Diamondbacks manager waittilnextyear Smith. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
Game 6 is scheduled for Tuesday at Jacobs Field 1994-2014 in Cleveland.
