Brantley, Rockies Sink Giants Again in Game 2
|
Riding the 5-hit performance of left fielder Michael Brantley, the Colorado Rockies flattened the San Francisco Giants, 10-1, in Game 2 of the Divisional Series today. Brantley went 5 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for the Rockies, who now lead 2-0 in the best-of-7 series.
Alberto Callaspo, who finished 4th in the NL in doubles with 50 last year, chipped in for Colorado with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"I got everyone together and told them they did great today," Colorado manager Maxfire Smith told BNN reporters after the game. "But I warned them that even if we make it out of the Divisional Series, it's only going to get harder."
Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday at Oracle Park in San Francisco.
