The Wild Card Series got off to a quiet start today, with the traveling Chicago Cubs taking a low-scoring 2-1 win over the host New York Mets. Chicago right-hander Carlos Martinez was marvelous at Shea Stadium 1979-2008. The Cubs now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Erick Aybar had a critical at-bat with two out in the top of the sixth for Chicago. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Chicago in front, 2-0.

"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said New York manager Ethan Smith.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Shea Stadium 1979-2008 in New York.
