Pirates Move on to Divisional Series
|
Tommy Hanson said "believing in our team and each other" is what led his Pittsburgh Pirates past the Chicago Cubs in the Wild Card Series.
"We have tunnel vision and all the guys rely on one another and can trust each other when it counts," he said. "I think our team is really coming together now at the right time."
Pittsburgh won the final game by a 4-2 count at Wrigley Field 1979-2005 and the series 4-2.
Hanson earned Wild Card Series MVP honors, as he had a 0.00 ERA over 16 innings pitched, with 15 strikeouts and a 2-0 record.
The Pittsburgh Pirates will play against the St. Louis Cardinals in the next round. St. Louis had a bye in the Wild Card Series. The Divisional Series schedule will be announced after the Wild Card Series finishes.
