White Sox Even With Athletics After Walk-Off Win
The Chicago White Sox got a strong game from starter Alex Fernandez, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.

The White Sox took the 4-1 win over the Oakland Athletics in Game 4 of the World Series in a 9th inning walk-off today. The win capped off a fine outing for the right-handed Fernandez. Fernandez threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball in the win, which brought the White Sox into a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 series.

The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with Chicago trailing 1-0, Sammy Sosa jumped on a 2-1 changeup from Bob Welch for a grand slam home run, sending the White Sox to a walk-off win.

"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Fernandez said.

Game 5 is scheduled for tomorrow in Chicago. The scheduled starters for the game are Mike Moore for the Oakland Athletics and Melido Perez for the the Chicago White Sox.
