Rangers Win, 3-1, at Toronto
|
Texas turned a fine outing from starter Cole Hamels into a victory over the Toronto Blue Jays at SkyDome 1989-2015. The final score was 3-1. Hamels, the winner, moves to 9-3. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up no walks. Sean Doolittle earned the save for Texas, his 23rd.
The Rangers got a big at-bat from right fielder Mike Trout. For the game, Trout was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 21st home run of the season gave Texas a 2-0 lead.
"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Trout.
Texas improves to 74-32 with the win. They lead their division by 16 games.
