Colorado Takes 1-0 Lead in Wild Card Series
The Colorado Rockies started the Wild Card Series in style today, downing the visiting St. Louis Cardinals at Colorado Field by a score of 4-2 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Rockies right-hander Felix Hernandez threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball.

With the clubs tied 0-0 in the bottom of the sixth and a runner on 2nd, third baseman Pablo Sandoval, who is a two-time MVP Award winner, hit a run-scoring double.

After the game, Colorado manager Maxfire Smith applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Monday, September 27th , 2010.
