Rockies Victors, 5-2, at Chicago
|
The Colorado Rockies scooped up a win at Wrigley Field 1979-2005, dumping the Chicago Cubs, 5-2. Aaron Civale, who leads the NL in complete games with 1, was essential to his team's success. Civale, now 11-12, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 2, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. With the win, Colorado upped its record to 89-73.
Colorado relied on the bat of Josh Bell to get the win. The first baseman ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the fifth inning to put the Rockies ahead, 3-1. For the game, Bell had 1 double and 1 triple in 5 at-bats.
"I'm just trying to make sure I'm focused for each and every pitch," said Civale.
