Rockies Pick Up 3-1 Win Over Chicago
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Colorado Rockies and the Chicago Cubs. Colorado won it, 3-1. Colorado starter Josh Johnson was in command. The winning pitcher was Johnson, now 12-10. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. With the win, Colorado raised its record to 91-65.
Pablo Sandoval, the former first round draft pick , had a direct impact on the outcome. Sandoval contributed a run-scoring triple in the top of the sixth inning to put Colorado up, 2-0.
"This was a tough loss," said Chicago manager Irish Turner. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
