Mets Get Thrilling 2-1 Win
|
The New York Mets scored a tight, 2-1 win versus the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park 2004-2005. New York pitcher Gerrit Cole held his own in the contest. The win was credited to former first round draft pick Hisashi Iwakuma in relief. His record improves to 5-0. Yohan Pino took the loss. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for New York.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for David Wright? The four-time All-Star Wright stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put New York up, 2-1. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said New York skipper Ethan Smith. "I can't complain."
