Toronto Earns 6-5 Win
|
Despite a fine performance by shortstop Andrelton Simmons, the Cleveland Indians lost to the Toronto Blue Jays, 6-5. Simmons was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times. The Blue Jays now have a record of 33-68.
The decisive blow was delivered by Juan Soto in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off 29-year old right-handed pitcher Shane Greene to win the game for Toronto. The home crowd went nuts.
"The crowd was raucous," said Soto.
