Devil Rays Drop Red Sox, 3-2

Chris Archer, who led the AL in ERA with 2.10 last year, had a strong outing for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 3-2 win. Archer, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 4 walks. Tampa Bay, now 2-0, is setting the league on fire so far.
Tampa Bay used the timely hitting of Brian Roberts to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Devil Rays on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Jonathan Sanders.
