Devil Rays Absorb 3-1 Home Loss
|
The Texas Rangers got a magnificent effort from pitcher Lance McCullers Jr., who kept Tampa Bay hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Rangers win at Tropicana Field. McCullers Jr., the winner, moves to 7-2. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks. Sean Doolittle earned his 14th save, after closing out the game.
Yadier Molina, who is a six-time Great Glove Award winner, had a direct impact on the outcome. Molina contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Texas up, 2-0.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Rangers manager Rangers GM, "I like our chances."
Texas, now 50-20, has stretched its winning streak to 12 games.
