Guest Red Sox Win, 4-1, at Minnesota
|
Boston starter Ubaldo Jimenez put a stranglehold on the Minnesota offense. The right-hander had complete command of his changeup in leading the Red Sox to a 4-1 win. Jimenez, now 5-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Liam Hendriks earned the save, his 2nd, for the Red Sox.
Boston used a clutch hit from Albert Pujols to get the win. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Pujols.
Minnesota has now lost 4 consecutive games.
